Prescription Drug Plans — Part D

The cheapest premium is rarely the cheapest plan.

Part D plans differ wildly in what they charge for the same medications. We run your exact drug list to find your lowest true annual cost — premium, deductible, and copays combined.

How it works

What Part D covers

Part D is Medicare's prescription drug benefit, delivered through private plans. If you're on Original Medicare (with or without a Medicare Supplement plan), you'll add a stand-alone Part D plan. Most Medicare Advantage plans build drug coverage in.

  • Formularies differ. Each plan has its own covered drug list and tier pricing.
  • Pharmacies matter. "Preferred" pharmacies can cut your copays significantly.
  • Costs are capped. Annual out-of-pocket drug costs are now capped by law, and payment can be spread across the year.
  • Plans change every year. A plan that was cheapest last year may not be this year — re-shopping each fall pays.

Avoid the late enrollment penalty

If you go 63+ days without creditable drug coverage after becoming eligible, Medicare adds a permanent monthly penalty when you do enroll. Even if you take no medications today, a low-premium Part D plan can protect you from that lifetime surcharge.

What we need for a quote

  • Your medication names and dosages
  • Your preferred pharmacy (or mail order)
  • Your ZIP code

That's it — ten minutes and we can show your true annual cost on every plan we represent.
